DoH to distribute masks, supplies to Bulusan eruption-affected residents

The Department of Health (DoH) on Monday, 6 June said it will be distributing masks and other medical supplies to affected residents living near Mount Bulusan in Sorsogon, following its phreatic eruption on Sunday.,In an interview, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said he already tasked the agency to distribute prepositioned supplies and face masks to affected residents in the province.,“I instructed that all the prepositioned supplies must already be distributed to the affected families and especially those in the evacuation centers,” Duque said in a televised interview.,Among those that will be given to people are N-95 masks and N-88 surgical masks, which are higher grade medical masks that would give protection against hazardous ashfall.,Data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council showed that some 50 families or 180 individuals from Barangay Puting Sapa in the municipality of Juban were evacuated due to the heavy ashfall in the area.,Majority of evacuees were children, pregnant women, and senior citizens.
